From Two Brothers to 20,000 Adapters: How Tapp Airsoft Started
Share
Tapp Airsoft started around 2014 with two brothers who were tired of running out of gas and BBs. More than a decade later, we've shipped over 20,000 units and built more than 2,000 unique designs, all designed, built and shipped from the USA.
Where it began
The founders came up the way a lot of players do: self-taught, playing on paintball fields, gearing up on a budget. Their guns were a Hi-Capa and a WE SMG-8. Both were a blast to shoot, and both ran dry of gas and ammo far too fast.
So they started building fixes.
The milestones
- 2014: The Tapp Trigger. Our first product, and the first paintball-style trigger in airsoft. It helped players fire semi-auto quickly and consistently.
- 2015: The Tappazine. The first high-capacity HPA magazine on the market. It gave a gas blowback a steady supply of air, so FPS held all day with no gas refills.
- 2017: The Tapp Drum. 1,500 rounds of storage. Cutting out the few seconds a mag change takes gave our own team a real edge, and we stopped worrying about running out of ammo.
- The HPA M4 Adapter. It let GBBs run standard M4 AEG mags on HPA, and it started the adapter lineup we're known for today.
- The Shell Adapter. A breakthrough that let GBBs feed from standard airsoft shotgun shells. It opened a new era for HPA adapters, and it's patented (US12292253B2).
- Today: TAPP HYBRID. Full lower receivers and complete builds, led by the G5 EVO, combining AEG-like simplicity, GBB realism and HPA reliability.
A team first
As the products grew, so did the team, from 2 players to more than a dozen. We started sponsoring other teams and players, and today Tapp is both a team and a company. The products still come from the same place: players who wanted more out of their GBBs.
