HPA Adapter 101

The Basics

HPA 101 — Unlocking Your Airsoft Potential

Welcome to the world of High-Pressure Air (HPA) systems in airsoft — a transformative upgrade that elevates performance, consistency, and reliability. At Tapp Airsoft, we craft high-quality HPA adapters that seamlessly integrate with your Gas Blowback (GBB) airsoft guns. This guide covers the basics of HPA and how our plug-and-play adapters can revolutionize your gameplay.

What Is HPA in Airsoft?

High-Pressure Air systems replace traditional propellants like green gas or propane with compressed air stored in external tanks. This setup offers:

Consistent Performance

Stable air pressure ensures uniform muzzle velocity and shot accuracy.

Adjustable Power

Easily fine-tune your FPS to meet different field requirements.

Temperature Resilience

Performs reliably in any weather, unaffected by temperature swings.

Why Switch to HPA?

Enhanced Consistency

Gas mags suffer cool-down during rapid fire. HPA provides a steady air supply — every shot as precise as the last.

Customizable Settings

Adjust air pressure to control power and rate of fire — perfect for field regulations or your playstyle.

Economical & Eco-Friendly

Compressed air is cheaper over time than buying gas canisters, and cuts down on disposable containers.

What Sets Tapp Adapters Apart

Plug-and-Play

Fully assembled, no setup or modifications. No need to sacrifice your existing magazines — attach and go.

Precision Engineering

3D-printed Nylon PA12 via SLS for exceptional durability. Available for a wide range of platforms.

Performance Boost

How to Get Started
01

Choose the Right Adapter

Select an adapter compatible with your gun model. Our range covers pistols, rifles, SMGs, and more. Contact us if you're unsure which fits your platform.

02

Gather Your Equipment

  • HPA Tank — stores compressed air (3000–4500 PSI)
  • Regulator — reduces tank pressure to a usable level (80–120 PSI)
  • Air Line — connects the regulator to your gun
03

Installation

Attach the adapter to your gun's magazine well, then connect the air line from your regulator to the adapter's fitting. No tools or disassembly required.

04

Testing & Tuning

  • Check all connections for leaks
  • Adjust output pressure with your regulator
  • Chronograph your gun to verify FPS and comply with field limits
Frequently Asked Questions
Is converting to HPA difficult?
Not at all. Our fully assembled, plug-and-play adapters make the transition effortless — no technical expertise or modifications needed.
Will carrying an external tank hinder my movement?
Most players adapt quickly using tactical gear like backpacks or vests to carry the tank comfortably. The performance benefits of HPA typically outweigh any short adjustment period.
Can I switch back to gas if I want?
Absolutely. Our adapters are built for versatility — switch between HPA and traditional gas magazines whenever you prefer.

Tapp Hybrid — User Manual, Safety & Tips

Connecting Air

  • Recommended pressure: 100–120 PSI.
  • Ensure the bolt is locked back before connecting air.
  • Connecting air with the hammer down will open the valve and cause the platform to fire.
  • Follow all instructions carefully when connecting air.

Burst Disk

  • A ~250 PSI burst disk is installed as a safety measure in case of regulator failure.

⚠ Attention

  • To avoid damage to EVO mags, do not activate the bolt catch with an empty magazine.
