M4, MP5, ARP9, Shell or Drum? How to Pick the Right Tapp Adapter

Picking the right Tapp adapter comes down to one question: what do you want to feed from? Match it to your primary's mags, your field's rules and the way you carry.

Quick picker

If you want Pick Why
One mag type with an M4 primary M4 The same mags run in your rifle and your sidearm
The widest choice of mags M4 The most common AEG magazine style
A compact SMG-style setup MP5 or ARP9 Slimmer, shorter mags
The smallest, lightest reloads Shotgun Shell A pocketful of shells goes a long way
A better grip angle and faster reloads Ambi Angled M4 Angled mag well with an enlarged, ambidextrous release
To rarely reload at all Drum 400 to 2,000 rounds

The styles in detail

M4

The default for a reason. M4 AEG mags are everywhere, and if your primary takes them, your sidearm can share the same pouches. Add the Competition Version for a flared magwell and faster reloads.

MP5

Slimmer and curved, MP5-style mags suit SMG builds and players who already run an MP5-pattern primary.

ARP9

ARP9-style PCC mags are short and light. They keep a compact gun compact and work well in tight CQB.

Shotgun Shell

The smallest option. Shells are cheap, fast to swap and easy to carry, and they're a natural fit for games that limit capacity. Read more about why we built it.

Ambi Angled M4

The first ambidextrous angled HPA M4 adapter. It sets your M4 mag at a more natural angle and adds an enlarged, shrouded release you can hit with either hand.

Drums

  • Mini: 400 rounds in a compact package
  • Flash: 1,500 or 2,000 rounds, wound by hand
  • Electric: 1,500 or 2,000 rounds with electric winding
  • Twin: 1,200 rounds

Already own a drum? Drum-adapter-only options cover Angel Custom, TM Mini, TM Twin, A&K and ICS drums.

Other styles

Select platforms also take SR25, AK, MXC9 or M14 mags.

Three checks before you buy

  1. Your primary's mags. Sharing one mag type keeps your loadout simple.
  2. Your field's rules. Some fields and game formats cap capacity, so check before you bring a drum.
  3. Your exact gun. Lookalike platforms can take different adapters. When in doubt, message us.
